What information we collect about you, and how do we collect it

We collect information about you when you provide it to us and when you use our Services.What information do we collect

Account and Profile Information: We collect information about you when you register for an account, create or modify your profile or make purchases through the Services. For example, you provide your contact information and, in some cases, billing information, when you register for the Services.

Cookies: the Digital Gardener stores «cookies» to to provide you with a wide range of functionalities. “Cookies” are tiny files stored on your computer through your browser. If you do not wish to receive “cookies”, you may deactivate storing “cookies” on your computer by changing your browser settings accordingly. Information you provide through our support channels: The Services also include our customer support, where you may choose to submit information regarding a problem you are experiencing with a Service.  When you contact the support team, you will be asked to provide contact information, a summary of the problem you are experiencing, and other documentation such as screenshots or information that would be helpful in resolving the issue.

Information we automatically collect or which is generated about you when you use the Services:

  • Information you generate when using the Services : You may provide Information as part of your use of the Services, such as the location and size of your garden.
  • Information regarding your use of the Services, such as app use information, interactions with our team, and transaction records.

How we use information we collect

How we use the information we collect depends in part on which Services you use, how you use them, and any preferences you have communicated to us.  Below are the specific purposes for which we use the information we collect about you.

To provide the Services and personalize your experience: We use information about you to provide the Services to you, including to process transactions with you, authenticate you when you log in, provide customer support, and operate, maintain, and improve the Services.   For examples, we use your information to send you a welcome e-mail after you create an account, when you sign up for a demo, webinar or to receive our newsletter. We also use your information to send other e-mail communication related to the Digital Gardener website. We always give you the option to unsubscribe in any email we send you.

Customer support: We use your information to resolve technical issues you encounter, to respond to your requests for assistance, to analyze crash information, and to repair and improve the Services. Where you give us express permission to do so, we share information with a third party expert for the purpose of responding to support-related requests.

For safety and security: We use information about you and your Service use to verify accounts and activity, to detect, prevent, and respond to potential or actual security incidents and to monitor and protect against other malicious, deceptive, fraudulent or illegal activity, including violations of Service policies. 

With your consent: We use information about you where you have given us consent to do so for a specific purpose not listed above.  For example, we may publish testimonials or featured customer stories to promote the Services, with your permission. 

Where we send your data

We share information we collect about you in the ways discussed below, including in connection with possible business transfers. We are not in the business of selling information about you to advertisers or other third parties.

Sharing with other Service users 

When you use the Services, we may chose to share certain information about you with other users of our Services.

For collaboration: You can create content, which may contain information about you, and grant permission to others to see that content based on settings you select. 

Sharing with third parties

Service Providers: We work with third-party service providers to provide website and application development, hosting, maintenance, backup, storage, virtual infrastructure, payment processing, analysis and other services for us, which may require them to access or use information about you.  If a service provider needs to access information about you to perform services on our behalf, they do so under close instruction from us, including appropriate security and confidentiality procedures designed to protect your information.

Links to Third Party Sites: The Services may include links that direct you to other websites or services whose privacy practices may differ from ours. If you submit information to any of those third party sites, your information is governed by their privacy policies, not this one. Third Party Services: We may offer you the ability to interact with or share information with third parties through the Services. For example, we may offer users the ability to log in to the Services via a third-party service like Google, access embedded maps through Google Maps or interact with social media networks via links on the Services. When you intentionally interact with these third parties, we may share certain information with those third parties or receive information with those third parties, consistent with your privacy settings on the third-party service. Such information may include contact information, identification, and demographic information, and device information and identifiers. You should always check the privacy settings and notices in these third-party services to understand how those third-parties may use your information.

With your consent: We share information about you with third parties when you give us consent to do so.  For example, we may display personal testimonials from customers on our public websites. With your consent, we may post your name alongside the testimonial. 

How Long will Data be stored?

We will only retain your personal data as long as reasonably required for you to use the Site/Application(s) and/or to provide you with the Services unless a longer retention period is required or permitted by law (for example, for regulatory purposes).

You should be aware that it is not technologically possible to remove each and every record of the information you have provided to us from our system. The need to back up our systems to protect information from inadvertent loss means that a copy of your information may exist in a non-erasable form that will be difficult or impossible for us to locate. Promptly after receiving your request, all personal information stored in databases we actively use, and other readily searchable media will be updated, corrected, changed or deleted, as appropriate, as soon as and to the extent reasonably and technically practicable.

The Digital Gardener Service may provide you with access to other websites and services. Please be aware that we are not responsible for the privacy practices of any websites or services other than the Digital Gardener Service. We encourage you to read the privacy policies or statements of each and every such website and service. This Privacy Policy applies solely to information collected by us through the Digital Gardener Service.

 

CHANGES TO OUR PRIVACY POLICY

We may revise this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will not make changes that result in significant additional uses or disclosures of your personally identifiable information without notifying you of such changes via email. We may also make non-significant changes to this Privacy Policy that generally will not significantly affect our use of your personally identifiable information, for which an email is not required. We encourage you to check this page periodically for any changes. If any non-significant changes to this Privacy Policy are unacceptable to you, you must immediately contact us and, stop using the Digital Gardener Service until the issue is resolved. Your continued use of the Digital Gardener Service following the posting of non-significant changes to this Privacy Policy constitutes your acceptance of those changes.

Continued use of the Digital Gardener Service following the posting of changes to this Privacy Policy that do not significantly affect the use or disclosure of your personally identifiable information will mean that you accept those changes.
